  • Date: 2015.05.25 (Mon) 14:30 - 16:20
  • Venue: N106, North Hall, Department of Psychology
  • Speaker: Dr. Michel Regenwetter(Department of Psychology and Political Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign )
  • Topic: Transitivity of preferences

Transitivity of preferences is a fundamental principle of rational decision making shared by most major contemporary rational, prescriptive, and descriptive models of decision making. To have transitive preferences, a person, group, or society that prefers choice option x to y and y to z must prefer x to z. The talk gives an overview of past and present approaches to testing this key property.
