2020.04.08(Wed) 14:30 Prof. Tsung-Ren Huang〈Cultural Learning and Social Memory: Humans and Machines〉

  • Date: 2020.04.08(Wed) 14:30
  • Venue: N100, North Hall, Department of Psychology
  • Speaker: Prof. Tsung-Ren Huang(Department of Psychology, National Taiwan University)
  • Topic: Cultural Learning and Social Memory: Humans and Machines

In this talk, I will discuss learning and memory from a cultural and social perspective. Specifically, I will introduce two streams of my research on cultural learning and social memory to answer: "What values humans/machines learn from a culture?", "How these values shape the mind and behavior of humans and machines?", "Why human-human interactions impair rather than facilitate memory recall?", and "Whether such memory impairments also occur in human-machine interactions?" To address these questions, I will present data obtained from an assortment of research methods, including big-data analytics, machine/deep learning, web-based/computational/laboratory
experiments, meta-analysis, and social robotics. Toward the end of this talk, I will also briefly introduce some relevant, ongoing projects in my Modeling and Informatics Laboratory, which leverages technology to advance psychology and vice versa.
