Pilyoung Kim is an associate professor of psychology and the director of Family and Child Neuroscience Lab at the University of Denver. She received a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Cornell University and received postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Mental Health.

In this talk, Dr. Kim will first discuss how poverty can influence a child’s brain development. Second, she will discuss while parenting plays a critical role to support child brain development, poverty and stress can also disrupt a normative neural adaptation to parenthood among new mothers.
