2021.12.08(Wed) 14:30 Prof. Chnag, Ben-sheng〈Theory and Practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy〉

  • Date: 2021.12.08(Wed) 14:30
  • Venue: online
  • Speaker: Prof.Chnag, Ben-sheng(Adjunt Associate Professor, Department of Psychology of Soochow University)
  • Topic: Theory and Practice of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) consists of three elements (awareness, openness, engagement) and six dimensions (be here now, self as observer, defusion, acceptance, values and commitment to action). The philosophy of ACT is Functional Contextualism, which is very different from the mechanistic theory of traditional psychotherapy (such as cognitive therapy). The theoretical basis of ACT is Related Frame Theory (RFT), that is, self - destructive ideas such as I am a loser can be learned, and their influence can be reduced through new learning, rather than challenging or revising their content. ACT has developed vigorously in recent 20 years, and more than 870 RCT efficacy studies (depression, anxiety, chronic pain, cancer, employment, partner / family, etc.) have been published. The theory, skills and implementation process of act will be the main content of the speech.
